- Increasing knowledge and raising awareness about substance abuse issues, trends, the coalition approach and prevention strategies.
- Developing and improving skills and competencies of a given group to understand, resist and deal with substance abuse issues both personally and in the community.
- Supporting efforts of organization or institutions to initiate or continue policies relevant to substance abuse prevention.
- Increasing access to prevention services and providing for early identification of problem behavior and referral.
- Increasing the coalition’s viability and that of community groups to provide activities in the future.
- Addressing those issues in the environment that restructure people’s choices, change the way the community does business, and changes the way people perceive the community.
